Xabi Alonso will make a decision on whether or not to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager within the next month, according to reports.
The Spaniard has led Bayer Leverkusen to the brink of their first Bundesliga title and has reportedly been lined up as Liverpool's top choice ahead of next season.
The Reds are not the only team with an interest in Alonso, who is said to be admired by Bayern Munich with Thomas Tuchel set to depart in the summer.
He has also been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid despite Carlo Ancelotti having recently signed a new deal until 2026.
Alonso is yet to figure out which club he wants to join but will be ready to make a decision in the next three to four weeks, according to Guillem Balague.
They will then travel to Union Berlin for another league game ahead of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against West Ham United.
Alonso could, therefore, make a decision on his next club in the middle of April with the 42-year-old set to take a number of important factors into consideration.
A mixture of intuition, logic and consideration of his family will shape Alonso's future and it is said that he will only take a job if he feels it is the right one for all categories.
There is also a possibility that Alonso could stay at Leverkusen, but an exit would appear to be the most likely option given the stature of the clubs eyeing his signature.
We are getting closer to our dream and I hope it happens.
"For Xabi, there is a lot to ponder but he’s enough of a gentleman to make the right decision and only he knows what’s best for him."
