A far cry from the sort of deals that saw him join the club, Liverpool went big on its transfer business last season, spending over $600M on new signings, including the record-breaking transfers of Wirtz and Isak. The new additions, bar Hugo Ekitike, have struggled to adapt though, contributing to what has been a poor campaign in defense of their league crown, leaving plenty of questions over Arne Slot’s future and the direction in which the club will go next season - although Robertson is adamant there will be a much brighter picture."I think in terms of the club that I am leaving behind I think we are not at the 2017 stage, we are at the transition stage," Robertson said this week ahead of his final game for Liverpool."We won the league last year [and] the environment was very similar. I have no doubt about that.

That is what I want, that is what the club wants, that is what everyone wants."I believe they can be successful again and I wish it was this season and then I would have maybe added a trophy or two onto an already pretty impressive trophy cabinet. So she was probably the first person," Robertson explained."I kept the circle pretty small to be honest, because I think when you start talking to too many people you can have all sorts of different emotions and things like that."So I always speak to my mum and dad but it was more talking through what I was thinking instead of getting their opinion on it.

I have always wanted to play games and things like that has not happened as much."I have still played a good few games this season but maybe not as much as I am used to and I think I am still only 32. You know me and Richard (Hughes, sporting director) have had discussions, me and (FSG president) Mike Gordon have even had talks and things like that."The relationships have always been really good, I have always had really good relationships and it was important for me to keep it that way and I am happy that I've had nine years and I leave with no regrets, no bitterness, nothing like that."I am really happy with the journey that I have had and the relationships I've had with the people that are at the top of the club are intact and really good.
