He then gained experience through a series of loan spells, including productive stints at Hull City and Derby County, where he scored 23 Championship goals. He also spent the 2019–20 season with Bournemouth in the Premier League before returning to Liverpool and making his second senior appearance under Jurgen Klopp in a League Cup start against Arsenal in October 2020.Wilson later joined Cardiff City on loan, scoring seven goals in the Championship, before sealing his move to Fulham in the summer of 2021.
