Ex-Liverpool Star Jordon Ibe Arrested After Landing in the UK to Appear in Court

Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe, 30, was arrested at Luton Airport upon arriving from Bulgaria, where he plays for Lokomotiv Sofia. The Metropolitan Police detained him on January 30, 2026, in connection with an alleged assault dating back to December 14, 2025. He has been charged with actual bodily harm and released on bail, with a court appearance scheduled for March 6 at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.[1]

The incident reportedly occurred six weeks prior to his arrest, prompting police questioning upon his return to the UK. Ibe, once a promising England youth international, joined Liverpool as a teenager in 2012 and made a high-profile £15 million move to AFC Bournemouth in 2016. Despite early potential, his career has been turbulent, spanning 13 clubs, including stints at Derby County, Birmingham City, and recent non-league football before his November 2025 switch to the Bulgarian side.[1]

This is not Ibe's first legal issue. In a separate case, he faced charges for using fraudulent prescriptions to obtain the insomnia drug Zolpidem. On May 24 and 28, 2024, Ibe allegedly presented fake prescriptions at a Hornsey Road pharmacy in north London. The second attempt led to the prescription being seized by a suspicious worker. Charged with possessing an article for use in fraud, Ibe was expected to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court. His solicitor noted he was unaware of the listing while in Bulgaria, warning of potential extradition if he failed to attend. He was fined £230 in a related prior matter.[2][4]

Born in South-East London, Ibe's journey from Premier League stardom to overseas football reflects inconsistency on and off the pitch. Authorities confirmed the charges, but Ibe has not yet entered a plea in the assault case.[1][3]
