Liverpool duo cut from Champions League list

Liverpool have confirmed two senior omissions in their Champions League squad. Andoni Iraola’s side kick off their latest campaign in Europe’s elite club competition at home to Atletico Madrid next Wednesday in the league phase’s opening week.

But there is no place for either winger Federico Chiesa or utility man Wataru Endo in the Reds’ 25-man squad which contains several players with long-term injuries. A minimum of ‘locally trained’ players have to be registered in each team’s Champions League squad with a maximum of four ‘association trained’.

Iraola’s new charges will round off the calendar year in Europe on home soil against Porto before reuniting with Curtis Jones’ Inter Milan on January 19, 2027. They conclude the league phase six days later at home to French side Lens.
