Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has perfectly outlined the style of play he is striving for at Anfield – Reds fans should be preparing for entertainment! Liverpool’s new boss doesn’t want that to be his playing style moving forward, however, telling beIN Sports [via Liverpoolfc.com] about what he wants to see: “I think the goal is quite clear and I think everyone understands what we are trying to build.
Try to be more intense, more vertical, but also you want to control the games and you don’t want the games to become… for example, I think in Newcastle we played a good game but probably we conceded two goals in transition [and] you want to control a little bit more of the games. And we are trying to balance all this.” When discussing whether he would rather win 4-3 or 1-0, Iraola added: “I said it, I prefer to win 4-3 because at the end you win the game the same way and the game has been more entertaining.
But sometimes you win 1-0 [and] I take it!” Liverpool are in good hands under Andoni Iraola As is the case with the vast majority of managers, patience was always going to be required with Iraola, as Liverpool’s players adjust to a new style of play. Of course, there needs to be discipline in Iraola’s football, rather than a reckless approach, but once Liverpool’s players are fully in tune with what he wants, Anfield is going to witness some wonderful football.
