For a good portion of Liverpool supporters, their main interest in FSG selling off 30% of the club on Friday will be of what it means for transfers.Though they have been excellent owners for the most part, one criticism of FSG has always been that they are far too frugal in the market. The arrival of a new investment group, of which Jeff Bezos is a participant, will bring hope to fans that Liverpool will now begin to throw their weight around even more. And in that respect, the potentially record signing of Bradley Barcola from PSG is a good way to signal intent for the future.

Santiago/Chris Brunskill/Fantasista Bradley Barcola signing is the perfect investment giftIt remains to be seen exactly how the arrival of Bezos and the consortium led by Amit Bhatia will affect Liverpool in terms of transfer spending, and there is a chance that it in fact does not change much at all.Nevertheless, the optics of smashing ahead with another £100m move are undoubtedly good for the newcomers.Liverpool have been waiting to bid for Barcola over the past few weeks, and though the two things are perhaps not linked, that an offer is set to go in as soon as 1892 Holdings arrive is good timing for the investors. The group reportedly have an option to buy Liverpool outright for $8bn over the next 12 months, when they will obviously assume total responsibility for transfer spending.READ MORE: No Jeff Bezos: Who are the two new members of the Liverpool board alongside vice-chairman Amit BhatiaIf you show ambition in the market and spend when there are gaps in the squad, Liverpool supporters will forgive plenty.Barcola could cost up to £140m, and while that is set to happen on FSG’s watch, it is a good sign to 1892 Holdings about what is expected and how this club should be operating in regards to transfers.1892 Holdings can get fans onsideClearly, it may be a little while before Bhatia, Bezos and co take control of Liverpool, but the feeling is that that is the most likely course of action over the next year.Over that period, they will no doubt reach out, directly or – more likely – indirectly, to fans to get an idea of the temperature at the club.Photo by Adam Jacobs/Getty ImagesIf they have been part of a successful end to the current transfer window, they are much more likely to find a fanbase who are happy and settled.Should Liverpool fail to do what needs to be done this summer, things will already be a little fractious, and that can be a difficult environment for new owners to walk into.As a result, it makes sense for everybody to loosen the purse strings, go big on Barcola and wrap up the other two or three deals Liverpool really need to do in the next two weeks.Though they will not have been the driver of those deals, Bhatia and his group can earn credit by affiliation, and that will make whatever they plan on doing over the next year all the more easier.
