Alongside Guardiola, Man City have also confirmed the departures of five members of the club’s backroom staff following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, including former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders and former Liverpool defender Kolo Touré.A club statement read: “Pep Lijnders, Kolo Toure, Lorenzo Buenaventura, Manel Estiarte and Xabi Mancisidor will all leave the Club.“Lijnders arrived last summer as assistant coach to Pep Guardiola and helped the Catalan as we lifted both the League Cup and FA Cup.“Toure, a Premier League winner with City as a player, was also appointed to the first team backroom staff before the most recent campaign after previously supporting the Lead Coach of our Under-18s squad.“Fitness coach Buenaventura has worked with Guardiola throughout the manager’s career at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City and leaves at the same time as Guardiola.“Estiarte has also been alongside Pep at each of his three clubs in an operations and support role. Head of Goalkeeping Mancisidor joined City in the summer of 2013 to work with Manuel Pellegrini and remained in position throughout Guardiola’s time in charge.“Everyone at City would like to thank all five members of staff for their hard work and dedication and wish them the very best of luck in the future.”Kolo Toure was promoted from his role as Manchester City U18 coach to become part of the first-team coaching staff in July last year. The former Man City defender was initially drafted in to work with the squad during the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, but the appointment was later made permanent.Toure joined Pep Lijnders, former assistant to Jurgen Klopp, and ex-Liverpool set-piece specialist James French as part of a new-look coaching staff under Pep Guardiola. The 45-year-old spent four seasons as a player at the Etihad Stadium, helping City win the Premier League title in the 2011/12 campaign before later joining Liverpool.
