Rousing The Kop exclusive.Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg says Benjamin Sesko’s goal for Manchester United against Liverpool on Sunday should not have stood according to the laws of the game.Sesko put United 2-0 up within the first 15 minutes at Old Trafford, diverting home after Freddie Woodman failed to deal Bruno Fernandes’ header. The ball appeared to roll from the Slovenian’s thigh onto his fingers and into the net, but despite a brief VAR review, the goal was allowed to stand. Can someone explain why this was allowed to stand?

As always, the goal will be checked by VAR,” he said.READ MORE: Liverpool fans are in complete agreement about Arne Slot against Manchester UnitedPhoto by Mark Cosgrove/News Images/NurPhoto via Getty Images“When you slow it down, the ball brushes the arm of Sesko before immediately scoring and therefore the VAR Stuart Attwell should have recommended a review to cancel the goal.“The only thing I can think is that Attwell does not have enough evidence to clearly see the ball touch the fingers, but replays do show the hand change movement when the ball hits it making it look like a touch.
“According to the laws of the game the goal should not have stood.”Anyone watching the game could surely have come to the same conclusion. The handball laws are stringent in the Premier League this days, and for VAR to miss this is a huge error.
