Following confirmation of the club’s relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the Board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude,” a club statement read.“During his tenure at Turf Moor, Parker guided the Clarets to a record-breaking season in the 2024-25 campaign, securing Burnley promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, with a 33-match unbeaten run, keeping a remarkable 30 clean sheets.“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.”Burnley are considering former Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy as a potential appointment, while Steven Gerrard has been strongly linked.
The club have also made checks on Brian Barry-Murphy, currently head coach of Cardiff City.According to BBC Sport, Football Association of Wales chiefs are “very confident” Craig Bellamy will remain head coach of the men’s national team despite interest from Burnley FC.Bellamy, who previously worked at Burnley as assistant to Vincent Kompany, has been informally sounded out by the Clarets, although no official approach has been made. After discussions with the former Wales captain, FAW sources believe he will honour his contract, which runs until 2028.A key factor is Bellamy’s ambition to lead Wales national football team at UEFA Euro 2028, which will be co-hosted by United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.Since taking charge in 2024, Bellamy has impressed with a nine-game unbeaten start, guiding Wales into the top tier of the Nations League. However, their 2026 World Cup qualification bid fell short after defeats to Belgium and a play-off loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina. While Bellamy is believed to have ambitions of managing at the highest level in club football, the FAW are protected by a release clause of around £700,000 in his contract, which any interested club would need to meet.
