Stefan Bajcetic, Liverpool’s 20-year-old midfielder, is currently recovering from a significant hamstring injury that required surgery in May 2025. Originally expected to be loaned out for the 2025/26 season, Bajcetic was instead retained at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre to focus on his rehabilitation.

After undergoing surgery, Bajcetic has been working on his recovery for several months and is "counting the days" until he can return to competitive action. His gradual return is likely to start with Liverpool’s U21 squad, as the club’s head coach Rob Page has indicated the hope to reintegrate him carefully to build up his fitness and minutes on the pitch.

The decision on when and how much Bajcetic will play will be made cautiously by Liverpool’s medical team to avoid setbacks, especially considering the player’s recent injury history. Before this hamstring issue, he experienced multiple injuries including an adductor problem and a calf injury, that limited his game time over the last couple of years.

Though he has been training at the club daily and was seen active at the training ground after a September break, Bajcetic has not yet featured in first-team squads and was notably absent from Liverpool’s Champions League trip to Galatasaray. His return could realistically be expected after the upcoming international break, with tentative targets putting his comeback close to mid-October 2025.

Overall, while injury setbacks have delayed what promised to be a key season for Bajcetic, Liverpool remains optimistic about his phased return to full fitness and competitive play in the near term.
