Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in securing a deal for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.
The online news portal claims that “Tottenham are long-term admirers of Adarabioyo and tried to sign him last summer (2023), while Liverpool are also keen to add him to their defensive ranks.”
It is believed that European clubs hold an advantage over English sides like Tottenham and Liverpool, as they can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Adarabioyo outside of the transfer window.
Football Insider further states that “the former England Under-21 star is set to keep his options open until the end of his contract – when he becomes a free agent.”
Monaco showed interest in the former Manchester City player, however, the Ligue 1 side were unable to reach an agreement.
They are monitoring his situation as his contract dwindles.
The 26-year-old is set to become a free agent in June as his contract at Craven Cottage with Fulham is due to expire.
Adarabioyo has featured in 20 matches in all competitions this season for Marco Silva’s side following his recovery from groin surgery earlier last season.
He would be a good addition to the Liverpool squad due to his enormous experience in the top flight and could be a good replacement for Joel Matip whose contract expires in June.
Matip is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury sustained in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Fulham on December 3.
As of now, there have been no reported negotiations between the club and Matip, signaling his impending departure from Anfield in the summer.
While Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk previously hinted at a potential Anfield exit when Klopp departs at the end of the season but has since denied such claims.
