Xabi Alonso has been the frontrunner to replace Jürgen Klopp ever since the Liverpool boss announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Liverpool isn't the only one of his former clubs to be impressed with Bayern Munich also targeting the Spaniard as its next manager.
Alonso has been tight-lipped about his future amid links to Liverpool and Bayern but there does appear to be an increased possibility that he will remain as Leverkusen boss.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß hinted as much on Thursday when he suggested that Alonso would stay put.
We’ll see if we can do that this year; it will be very difficult, not to say probably impossible."
Reports on Thursday also suggested Liverpool may now have to look elsewhere in its search for Klopp's replacement.
The Telegraph reports that Alonso is 'almost certain' not to be the Reds' next boss, as Liverpool feel he will not be available this summer.
Liverpool has been linked with alternative options in recent weeks, most notably Roberto De Zerbi and Rúben Amorim.
He is yet to taste defeat in any of his last four meetings with Liverpool.
Liverpool.com says: A lot of Liverpool fans were set on Alonso and rightly so, given the way his Leverkusen side has been performing.
It appeared to be a straight shootout between Liverpool and Bayern but reports suggest he is staying put and will lead Leverkusen into next season's Champions League.
