Reports from Italy have claimed that Inter Milan actually made an offer for Ibrahima Konate in the recent January transfer window. Reports in Italy have consistently framed Konate as Inter’s “dream” signing at the heart of a defensive rebuild, with the Nerazzurri hierarchy seeing him as an ideal long‑term successor to veterans such as Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi. With his contract edging towards its final year and no agreement in place at Anfield, Inter sensed a market opportunity in January and pushed to exploit Liverpool’s dilemma over whether to cash in or risk losing him for nothing further down the line.

According to L’Interista, that interest went beyond simple monitoring and phone calls: Inter actually tabled an offer during the winter window. Liverpool, however, turned the bid down, backing their chances of convincing Konate to sign a new deal and judging his sporting importance too great to sacrifice mid‑season.
