SportFootballLiverpool FCEx-Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister believes his old club should be in the running for Harry Wilson on a free transferFormer Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister has urged his old club to make a move to bring Harry Wilson back to Anfield.Wilson is set to be available on a free transfer at the end of the month after failing to agree a new contract after five years at Fulham during which he made 187 appearances, scoring 36 goals and providing 46 assists. The 29-year-old right winger moved to Craven Cottage from Liverpool having come through the ranks at the Academy. However, he made only two senior appearances for the Reds in between loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth and Cardiff City before an initial temporary spell at Fulham.Wilson has won 69 caps for Wales and played in all three games for his country at the last World Cup.And with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Everton all strongly linked with the player, McAllister - who was a successful free transfer when arriving at Liverpool in 2000 - believes the Reds should be in the conversation as they look to strengthen their attacking options with Mohamed Salah having departed and Hugo Ekitike suffering a long-term injury.“He’s a really interesting one," said the ex-Scotland international.
"He’s been coached in the Liverpool way, and he always caught the eye when you were around Anfield.“When I was doing bits and bobs for the club, you’d hear about the young players coming through, and he was one of the standouts.“I watched Harry from a very young age, and the performances you’ve seen at Fulham are very similar to what I saw when he was playing for the youth team at Liverpool.“With his passing range, his ability to get a goal, and his work-rate, he’s becoming a very complete player.“So, it’s no surprise there’s interest, as he’s up at the end of the season, and I’m sure there will be a lot of takers. Liverpool should be one of them."Speaking to Grosvenor Casino, McAllister added: "Without a shadow of a doubt, Harry is a top-end Premier League player now."He has been on the international stage for his country as well, and he’s been fantastic there.
I’m really pleased for him because he’s a very hard worker.”FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE!
